The PIANZ Manure/Used Litter template, issued in May 2013, is a members’ guide for the application of manure/used litter to soils.
The template is a short, two-page guide reflecting current industry best practice and was prepared in consultation with Regional Council personnel.
Topics covered in the template include:
- Storage
- Method of application
- Where and when manure/used litter may be applied
- Traceability of manure/used litter.
There is also a summary of best practice recommendations for PIANZ members. PIANZ also recommends that manure/used litter removal contractors should be made aware of these guidelines and encouraged to follow them whenever possible.
